Why fix if it’s not broke?
While he may have been designated at a time when the higher headquarters instituted a massive revamp of senior officers, newly-designated Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Rolando Miranda won’t make such a move among his subordinate commanders.
“No, hindi ako mag re-revamp kasi unang-una, titingnan ko muna ang performance nila,” he said immediately after he formally assumed post as the new Western Visayas police Cheju on Dec 2, 2020.
Secondly, Miranda said he had no officer in tow following his assumption.
“Pangatlo, dati ko namang kilala ang mga tao dito. ‘Yung iba dati long staff sa NIR. So, kung ano ang inabutan ko dito, magtrabaho lang sila at ganun pa rin ang gagawin natin,” he said.
Miranda used to be the chief regional directorial staff of the now defunct Police Regional Office 18 (Negros Island Region) in 2017.
“I’m a team player. Before I do that – the revamp – tingnan ko lang muna and I consult also my staff,” he said.
Miranda assumed the PRO-6 helm when the PNP administration under General Debold Sinas purged officials who are believed to be not his allies.
The orders of reassignment and designation, which both involved Miranda and his predecessor Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, were issued by Camp Crame on Nov. 29, 2020.
Pamuspusan is one of the 27 senior PNP officials who was affected by Special Orders No. NHQ-SO-URA-2020-8777.
Eighteen of them hold the rank of police brigadier general, seven are police colonel, and two major generals.
