With the formal assumption of office of the new Western Visayas police chief, will reshuffling of officers be expected soon?
Revamp is not in the offing, Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor said on Wednesday, May 24, immediately after he formally assumed post as Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 acting chief.
But it’s no time to be complacent as Villaflor said they would conduct a performance audit on officers to ascertain if they are fit to keep their posts.
Prior to his PRO-6 assignment, Villaflor was the deputy director for administration of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
“Sa CIDG, the performances of officers are being audited and evaluated monthly,” he said hinting that he might also do it in PRO-6.
The performance evaluated will determine if those who do mediocre jobs will be relieved while those who performed well will be retained.
Villaflor said that he hasn’t brought any personnel with him from his previous assignments.
“Wala akong dalang tao. Personally, hindi ako naniniwala na bata ko ‘yan. Bata ko silang lahat. But they will have to perform as I also have to perform because I was given the challenge by the chief PNP (General Benjamin Acorda, Jr.). That’s why I need to work,” he said.
Given the resources from the national headquarters and the raise in pay, Villaflor said there’s no reason for policemen not to work.
“Sisingilin ko sila. Dapat sila din ay magtatrabaho not for me but for the organization and the public,” he said.
