ROXAS CITY, Capiz – There will be no white-washing or cover-up in the investigation on the road vehicular accident at Brgy. Ondoy Ivisan, Capiz Monday evening which killed two frontliners and injured four others, including the police chief of Dumalag town.
Police Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., Capiz police director, assured the families of the victims that proper investigation will be conducted to determine who is at fault.
Gustilo said that initial information revealed that the driver of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) was not Police Captain Alcer Monsera, who was also injured in the mishap.
He said debris from the cars involved in the accident will determine who should be held liable.
Two persons were killed and four others were injured after an ambulance and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided at Barangay Ondoy, Ivisan.
Killed were ambulance driver Darius Yap and Ernie Fulgencio.
Injured were John Rey Castillon, 29, of Barangay Poblacion Norte, Sigma, Capiz; Captain Alcer Moncera, police chief of Dumalag, Capiz; Romelyn Gondao Baldado, 19, of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental and Oliver Clarito Aguihap, 21, of Barangay Culajao, Roxas City.
Initial investigation by Ivisan police indicated that the ambulance was headed towards Roxas City while the SUV was on its way to Sigma town.
The accident happened Monday night. The SUV allegedly veered towards the opposite lane and hit the approaching ambulance.
Meanwhile, the families of the victims and the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and its local counterparts in the 16 municipalities are seeking justice for the two fallen responders.
Judy Grace Pelaez, PDRRMO action officer, said Darius Yap and Ernie Fulgencio were a great loss to Sigma Responder Team (SRT).
Captain Alcer Monsera allegedly went wild while inside the rescue ambulance of Ivisan town that took him to Roxas City.
Stephanie Flores, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Ivisan said that the police chief allegedly damaged some of the medical equipment inside the ambulance after the management of Capiz Emmanuel Hospital did not immediately admit him and his lady colleague because of health protocols that should be followed first.
Flores said Monsera was drunk and insisted that he should be treated immediately because of his fractured leg.
