Baser Amer has found a new home.
After spending the last three years with the Blackwater Bossing franchise, the savvy and seasoned point guard will be embarking on a new chapter after the NLEX Road Warriors acquired him for the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup.
The development was confirmed last February 13, 2024, after the Road Warriors made the official announcement on their various social media pages.
“The Hammer finds a new home. The NLEX Road Warriors officially announce the addition of the seasoned point guard Baser Amer to the team!” posted NLEX on their official X account.
Amer was tapped by the Road Warriors after his contract with Blackwater expired last December, making him an available free agent during the off-season.
With this move from NLEX, Amer will also be reuniting with his former collegiate mentor, Frankie Lim, who coached him when he was still earning his stripes at San Beda University.
Together as a player-mentor duo, Amer and Lim propelled the Red Lions to the 2011 championship title. With the breakthrough season the floor general had, he immediately handled the main point guard duties for San Beda for three more years.
Amer would continue to win in the NCAA level and added three more golden chips to his stellar collegiate resume.
Upon entering the PBA, Amer quickly turned heads as he carried his steady style of play with the Meralco Bolts from 2015-2019.
Despite failing to win a PBA title under the tutelage of coach Norman Black, Amer helped Meralco qualify in the post-season and the finals but lost against Barangay Ginebra.
Now that he’s found a new lease on life, Amer will look to lead NLEX’s backcourt rotation of Matt Nieto, Kevin Alas, and Robert Bolick.
