The NLEX Road Warriors management recently expressed their support regarding their superstar Kiefer Ravena’s desire of playing in the Japan B. League.
However, the management still stood firm with their call of letting the PBA under their Uniform Player Contract (UPC) decide what’s best for Ravena.
“We understand and support Kiefer’s desire for personal advancement. However, as a member of the PBA, we are duty-bound to abide by the rules and regulations that govern the league. The NLEX Road Warriors stand by the tripartite agreement between our organization, the PBA, and the individual player, which is enshrined in the Uniform Player Contract (UPC),” read the joint statement of governor Rod Franco and head coach Yeng Guiao.
A few days ago, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that under the UPC, Ravena is not allowed to leave the PBA because he is still under NLEX’s contract until 2023.
A recent post of the Shiga Lakestars in the B. League however stated that Ravena already signed with them and is ready to play.
“The Japan engagement of Kiefer will need to conform to the terms of the UPC as well as the rules and policies of the PBA,” added NLEX’s statement.
As of this moment, the Lakestars and the PBA are yet to reach an agreement and ask for clarifications regarding Ravena’s situation.
