The NLEX Road Warriors are slowly rediscovering themselves in the PBA bubble after a convincing win against the tough and bruising Rain or Shine squad, 94-74, to grab their second-straight victory.
Coach Yeng Guiao and his boys were firing from all cylinders after taking full control of the ball game from the first frame down to the last quarter.
Despite superstar Kiefer Ravena’s flat shooting, it was Kevin Alas and Jericho Cruz who provided the scoring punches for the Road Warriors.
Alas finished the ball game with a total of 18 points while the aggressive Cruz helped NLEX pull-away in the fourth with a 6-0 scoring run of his own to cap-off his 17-point performance.
The Elastopainters saw themselves suffer from the field while committing costly turnovers that all but doomed them in a game that saw the Road Warriors oozing with confidence.
Beau Belga had a rough shooting night and finished the game with only seven points despite a heroic outing against the Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel.
“I took the pressure off the players. Sabi ko lang, ang gusto lang natin dito, parang nasa training camp lang tayo. Magpakundisyon tayo, and then let’s learn everyday, every practice, every game. If we are doing it right, we will win games. If we are doing it wrong, we go back to practice and correct the mistakes. Parang na-relax sila,” said Guiao.
