The NLEX Road Warriors continued their nonstop PBA off-season moves after signing former champion tactician Siot Tanquingcen to their coaching staff confirmed on November 14, 2024.
According to the Road Warriors management, adding Tanquingcen to their already talented coaching pool will bring more knowledge and much-needed veteran help to their head, Jong Uichico.
Tanquingcen was formally signed as the franchise’s assistant coach and is set to reunite with Uichico whom he shared the board during their younger years in the PBA.
In retrospect, the duo shared four PBA championship titles when they were still under the coaching staff of the San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra.
Tanquingcen already fortified his resume after clinching two championship titles with Ginebra from 2004-2005 and his last was under San Miguel, during the 2009 Conference.
Known as a defensive-minded coach, Tanquingcen will look to incorporate more schemes to help elevate NLEX’s woes in guarding the leather.
Last PBA Governor’s Cup, NLEX allowed teams to score above 95 in almost every game, proof of their inconsistent defensive presence.
Aside from his professional expertise, Tanquingcen will also bring some fresh mapped-out plays as he currently serves as the assistant coach of the National University (NU) Bulldogs in the UAAP.
With another import-laced conference incoming in the PBA, the Road Warriors are already looking to kick off their training camp as soon as they finalize and bring in their reinforcement.
