BACOLOD CITY – A 27-year-old laborer wanted for murder was arrested Wednesday in Barangay General Luna, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
The suspect, known by the alias “Dodong,” is a resident of Escalante City and was tagged by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office as a high-profile fugitive.
Sagay City police, along with other law enforcement units, served the arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 57 in San Carlos City on Feb. 8, 2023.
The warrant carried no bail recommendation.
Dodong ranked No. 8 among the most wanted persons in the Negros Island Region, according to Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, chief of the Sagay City Police Station.
He also ranked No. 2 at the city level and No. 4 at the provincial level, based on a report from the provincial police.
Authorities said his arrest marks a significant victory in the province’s campaign against criminality and brings one of its most elusive suspects into custody.
