ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Nine individuals were arrested for illegal fishing activities in the seawaters of Panay, Capiz, on Thursday afternoon, April 10.
The Panay Municipal Police Station and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) caught three pump boats conducting “teming” fishing operations without a mayor’s permit around 2 p.m.
The arrested suspects are all residents of Barangay Barra, Roxas City.
Recovered from the suspects were:
- Three pump boats valued at PHP240,000
- Six 12HP diesel engines worth PHP90,000
- Fishing nets with accessories worth PHP90,000
- About 30 kilos of blue crabs with an estimated market value of PHP6,000
The seized items and the suspects were turned over to MENRO-Panay for proper disposition.
