BACOLOD City – Nine persons were arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal cockfighting in Negros Occidental last week.
In Cadiz City, four persons were collared at Barangay Luna last Sunday. Police recovered from them two live and 1 dead fighting cocks.
In Escalante City, two persons were apprehended at Barangay Old Poblacion on the same day. Authorities confiscated from them two fighting cocks, a gaff, and P800 bet money.
In Victorias City, three individuals were arrested at Barangay 10 for the same reason. Police recovered from them two fighting cocks, two gaffs, P600 bet money, and a tarpaulin.
All arrested individuals will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree No. 449 or the “Cockfighting Law of 1974”.
