Nine soldiers of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division were cited for their gallantry in action.
The nine soldiers received the gold cross medal for their involvement in armed engagements against the New People’s Army (NPA) in Negros Island.
The Gold Cross Medal (GCM) is a decoration of the Armed Forces of the Philippines which recognizes gallantry in action.
It is the fourth highest military award in the Philippines.
Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner, Jr., commander general of the Philippine Army, pinned the awards on the outstanding soldiers during the 49th founding anniversary celebration of the 3rd ID at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.
During the said event, the 3rd ID also recognized outstanding civilian employees, uniformed personnel, and units.
The awardees include:
* Captain Brian Palencia – Best Staff Officer;
* 1Lt. Rapp Signabon – Best Company Commander;
* 2Lt. Ruben Hali – Best Platoon Leader;
* Technical Sergeant Jhonny Sabanal –
Best First Sergeant;
* Randy Lingamen – Best Staff NCO;
* Sergeant Frandy Quiling – Best Platoon Sergeant;
* Corporal Louie Aquino – Best Squad Leader;
* CA Jordan Quiador – Best CAA of the Year;
* Sgt. Pablito Tajantajan – Best Reservist of the Year;
* Jenivy Vestidas – Best Technical CivHR of the Year;
* Leonor Bonilla – Best Admin CivHR of the Year
