MANILA — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a decrease in overall transmission charges reflected in consumers’ January 2026 electricity bills, driven by lower costs from the December 2025 billing cycle.
In a statement, NGCP said the overall average transmission rate dropped by 0.68 percent to PHP 1.3455 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared to PHP 1.3547 per kWh previously.
These transmission charges are passed on to end-users through their respective distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.
The grid operator reported that Ancillary Services (AS) charges were recorded at PHP 0.5971 per kWh.
AS charges cover reserve power sourced from the AS Reserve Market and providers with bilateral supply contracts with NGCP.
NGCP’s transmission wheeling rate — the fee for transporting electricity via the national grid — stood at PHP 0.6058 per kWh for the period.
“For the January 2026 electric bill of end consumers, NGCP charges only 60 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the company said, emphasizing that its revenues remain regulated and capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
The decline in charges comes amid continued scrutiny of electricity pricing and reflects adjustments tied to market and operational factors.
