ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A newborn baby girl was found abandoned early Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, in front of a house in Barangay San Jose.
Former San Jose barangay kagawad Jun Cordovero said the infant was discovered around 4:30 a.m. inside a cardboard box labeled “Bagong Pilipinas” left at the gate of his residence.
Cordovero immediately contacted the Roxas City Emergency Response Team, whose personnel administered first aid.
He said the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, but she appeared to be in good health.
The infant is currently under medical care at a hospital in the city.
Cordovero urged the child’s mother to come forward and coordinate with local authorities if she wishes to reclaim the baby.
Meanwhile, a concerned citizen has expressed willingness to adopt the child should the biological parents decide not to take her back.
