BACOLOD CITY — A newborn baby boy was found lifeless on the corner of Aguinaldo Street in Barangay 1 here on Friday night, Nov. 14.
Police Maj. Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said a concerned citizen who happened to pass by the area discovered the infant shortly after 7 p.m.
The baby was wrapped in a blanket with the umbilical cord still attached, he added. Bloodstains were also visible on the blanket.
Personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office checked on the infant and declared no signs of life.
Tolentino said the baby was brought to a funeral home, and the barangay facilitated the burial.
He also noted that there was no closed-circuit television camera in the area that could help identify who left the baby.
Police will check for recently pregnant women in the village to potentially identify the child’s parents, Tolentino added.
