BACOLOD CITY – A newborn baby boy was found dead in a creek at Purok Pinetree, Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, early Monday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., the city police chief, reported that a 53-year-old tricycle driver discovered the infant wrapped in plastic with the umbilical cord still attached while checking a pipeline.
According to Indiape, an initial medical examination indicated that the baby had suffered a neck injury.
He mentioned that they currently have no leads on who may be responsible for abandoning the baby, as there were no witnesses to the incident.
The authorities were also unable to determine how long the baby had been left in the area. Indiape said that the barangay officials decided to proceed with the burial of the baby.
