New school building opens for students in Buenavista

A newly completed school building at East Valencia National High School in Barangay East Valencia, Buenavista, Guimaras, is set to improve learning conditions for more than 600 students enrolled for the 2025-2026 school year.

The PHP 15.7 million project, undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Guimaras District Engineering Office in convergence with the Department of Education (DepEd), includes a two-story, four-classroom building with a total floor area of 655.5 square meters.

Each floor is equipped with cubicle-type comfort rooms, a restroom for persons with disabilities, aluminum glass and jalousie-type windows, lighting fixtures, and a fire alarm system.

Citing a report from District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos, Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Joel F. Limpengco said the new classrooms are expected to ease overcrowding and enhance daily learning experiences.

“This project helps create a better learning environment for our youth. It supports the goal of making schools safer and more prepared for natural disasters and changing weather conditions,” Limpengco said.

“For the teachers and faculty, the added space offers better conditions for teaching and school operations. For the students, it means more room to grow, learn, and prepare for the future,” he added.

East Valencia National High School is one of the largest secondary schools in Buenavista.

With enrollment numbers rising each year, the new building will allow the school to accommodate more learners while providing a safer and more comfortable space for both students and staff. (DPWH)
