The Police Regional Office 6 has reported significant results in its ongoing intelligence-driven efforts to curb illegal drugs and other criminal activities across the region from February 15 to March 15, 2024, under the command of Brigadier Gen. Jack L. Wanky.
During the month, operations resulted in the seizure of 6,783.26 grams of shabu valued at PHP 46,126,168.00 and 86 grams of marijuana worth PHP 10,320.00. These were the outcomes of 201 operations executed by various PRO6 units, leading to the apprehension of 259 individuals involved in drug activities.
The anti-criminality drive netted 488 wanted persons, including 72 Most Wanted Persons and 416 Other Wanted Persons.
In the anti-insurgency campaign, authorities arrested 1 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) Party-Listed individual and killed another in operation, detained 3 non-listed members, neutralized 6 in operations, witnessed the surrender of 17, and documented 12 withdrawing support from CTGs.
Additionally, 39 firearms and 17 explosives were surrendered or recovered from CTG affiliates.
In the battle against illegal gambling, 114 operations were conducted, 442 suspects were captured, and PHP 112,132.00 in bet money was collected throughout the region.
Regarding illegal fishing, 79 operations led to the arrest of 214 violators.
PRO6 has also focused on reducing loose firearms, conducting 300 operations within the one-month span, confiscating 284 firearms, 45 explosives, and detaining 47 individuals.
For search warrant implementation, PRO6 served 16 warrants—13 for violations of RA 10591 or The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, and 3 for RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Brig. Gen. Wanky lauded the force’s achievements, saying, “I commend the extraordinary dedication and relentless efforts of our troops in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and other anti-criminality campaigns.”
“As of the past month, under my leadership, together we have made significant strides in combating drugs and other criminal activities. Our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities remains steadfast, and we will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the law and protect the welfare of our beloved Western Visayas.”
