New PCG-Northern Negros Chief to Bolster Security

BACOLOD CITY—Commander Jan Terazona, the newly installed head of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-northern Negros Occidental, has pledged to strengthen maritime security and safety across the province.

Terazona assumed the post from Commander Jansen Benjamin in a turnover ceremony held Sunday at the PCG-northern Negros Occidental headquarters in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City. The event was presided over by Commodore Ludovico Librilla Jr., commander of the Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV).

In a media interview, Terazona said he plans to focus on areas frequently reporting maritime incidents to assess and enhance safety measures. He also intends to visit coastal barangays vulnerable to flooding.

He shared plans to conduct training programs to improve the skills of PCG personnel and replicate successful strategies he implemented during his previous role as commander of Coast Guard Iloilo.

Terazona vowed to continue Benjamin’s programs, acknowledging his predecessor’s contributions during his tenure.

Before his current appointment, Terazona served as deputy commander of CGDSV.

Meanwhile, Librilla commended Benjamin for his dedication and service, which spanned four months. Benjamin is set to attend further schooling.

Librilla emphasized the significance of leadership transitions, expressing gratitude for Benjamin’s efforts and optimism for Terazona’s leadership.

He urged PCG personnel to support their new commander, noting that their dedication forms the backbone of the institution and enables it to fulfill its mission of serving the people of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
