The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo City District Engineering Office has constructed seven multi-purpose buildings (MPBs) across Iloilo City to bolster community facilities and holistic development.
OIC-District Engineer Roy C. Pacanan, as per the report to Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, indicates that these projects aim to deliver modern spaces catering to a variety of community needs, from education to healthcare and disaster resilience.
“These buildings reflect our dedication to fostering resilient, dynamic communities. Each one serves specific community functions, enhancing the well-being of our residents,” RD Oropel stated.
The ₱17-million endeavor at Iloilo Central Elementary School is progressing, with a 3-storey, six-classroom building under construction, enhancing the students’ learning environment.
A ₱5.9-million MPB is rising in MH del Pilar, Jaro, destined to be a sports hub, complete with necessary amenities to serve both residents and local athletes.
In Bito-on, Jaro, a ₱9.8-million, 2-storey, 56-square meter structure is emerging as the new barangay hall, set to host an array of services and gatherings.
The ₱24-million project at the Jaro District Health Office is crafting an MPB to function as an advanced healthcare facility, poised to significantly impact community health services.
Meanwhile, Barangay Katilingban, Molo’s ₱24-million initiative is focused on erecting an MPB to function as a spacious evacuation center, advancing the community’s emergency preparedness.
Likewise, in Barangay Tanza-Esperanza, another ₱24 million MPB is under construction to serve as a robust evacuation hub.
The recently unveiled 2-storey MPB in Barangay Bito-on, Jaro, now serves as a central social hub, equipped with safety and comfort essentials, ready to accommodate community activities and events.
As these MPBs integrate into the urban fabric of Iloilo City, DPWH exemplifies community-centered development, meeting diverse urban needs and fostering a robust, adaptable city environment. (DPWH-6)
