New Leadership Takes Over Aklan Police

Colonel Victorino Romanillos officially handed over the leadership of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (AkPPO) to his successor during a turnover ceremony.

Romanillos, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1995, stepped down as AkPPO director after serving for one year and six months.

The turnover of command was presided over by Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, and saw Romanillos passing the role to Colonel Arnel Ramos.

Ramos, who previously commanded the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 6, belongs to the PNPA Class of 1998.

The two officers effectively swapped posts as part of the reassignment.

Wanky clarified that the reassignment was a regular movement within the police organization.

He explained that Romanillos was nearing the maximum two-year stint allowed for a commander, and the transfer was timed to avoid disruptions during the 2025 election period.

“For the 2025 midterm elections, the election period will run from January 12 to June 11, 2025. During this time, reassignments require approval from the Commission on Elections (Comelec),” Wanky said.

He noted that during the election period, any reassignment must have a compelling justification.

“There will be no further relief or reassignment of key officers anytime soon,” Wanky added.
