New farm-to-mill road in NegOcc spurs agricultural development and enhances community safety

Residents and farmers in Barangay Panaquiao in Isabela, Negros Occidental, can now easily transport their products from farms to milling stations and better access to various essential services with the completion of the new farm-to-mill road.

The ₱12.4-million project, undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office, covers 860 lineal meters, with segment 1 measuring 360 lineal meters, segment 2 covering 450.50 lineal meters, and segment 3 measuring 49.50 lineal meters.

In a report from OIC-District Engineer Marivic M. Roldan, Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the completion of the road is expected to significantly improve land transportation for commuters and enhance the local economy by providing a smooth flow of deliveries of goods and local products within the area.

“The completion of the new farm-to-mill road in Brgy. Panaquiao is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of our constituents in Isabela,” Director Bueno said.

“This infrastructure development project will significantly promote economic growth by ensuring that products are delivered smoothly while guaranteeing the safety of the locals,” added RD Bueno.

The road will significantly benefit small farmers, allowing them to transport their crops, such as corn, sugarcane, and peanuts, more efficiently and less costly to nearby markets and mills.

In addition, students and teachers of Panaquiao Elementary School (PES) can now travel safely to their schools, providing a safer and more convenient means of transportation.

The said project is one of the many initiatives DPWH has undertaken to improve the lives of the people in Negros Occidental. (DPWH-6)
