New Bacolod top cop orders random drug test for officers

BACOLOD City – Forty-three police commissioned officers (PCOs) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) underwent random drug testing at the BCPO headquarters yesterday.

Police Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO acting director, led the drug testing to set an example that policemen here are disciplined and not involved in illegal drugs.

Aliño said that this is one of his priorities when he assumed office here.

These police officers, including the 10 station commanders here, submitted their urine samples to the Provincial Crime Laboratory personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).

Aliño said that the objective of the drug testing is for policemen to have moral ascendancy. “Meron kaming maipagmamalaki para sa service and for our family,” he added.

The drug testing is not for compliance only.

“Ayaw ko ng hokus-pokus,” he added.

If an officer tests positive, Aliño assured that they will be dealt with accordingly.

“Walang kapatawaran. Anong excuse gagawin? Naka uniporme pero ikaw pala violator?, he asked.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, BCPO public information officer, said they will wait for the results of the drug test in the coming days.

Aliño assumed the BCPO top post last Tuesday, replacing Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir who will retire on May 14.
