BACOLOD CITY — Following the successive landfalls of Typhoons Tino and Uwan earlier this month, Negros Power has completed full power restoration across its franchise area in Central Negros, returning electricity to nearly 250,000 customers as of November 27, 2025.
The announcement marks a major recovery milestone just weeks after the region was battered by two intense storms on November 4 and 9, respectively. Negros Power confirmed that 100 percent of all lateral lines have now been re-energized.
The utility operates in the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, and Bago, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.
Negros Power’s management extended its gratitude to national and local government officials, barangay leaders, volunteers, augmentation teams, contractors, and especially the company’s linemen and technical crews, whose efforts were vital to the rapid restoration.
“This accomplishment reflects the true Bayanihan spirit,” the company stated, acknowledging how collective action helped accelerate recovery.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, via a post from the Department of Energy, also praised the coordinated response.
“We commend the Negros Power teams and the resilient communities who have united to restore electricity with extraordinary speed and safety, even in the wake of such devastating storms,” Garin said.
With residential and commercial customers now largely reconnected, daily life in Central Negros is quickly returning to normal. Local observers noted that the swift turnaround was a testament to the expertise of field crews and the strength of community coordination.
Consumer advocate Wennie Sancho, President of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS), emphasized this shared determination.
“In the aftermath of devastation—when Typhoon Tino plunged much of Negros Island into darkness—the people of Central Negros rose once again with resilience, unity, and an unshakeable resolve,” Sancho said. “At the forefront of this effort were the brave men and women of Negros Power. As a consumer group that monitored these efforts on the ground, ACCESS proudly commends Negros Power for its effective, timely, and compassionate response.”
