BACOLOD CITY — Negros Power has received national recognition from the Energy Regulatory Commission for its role in advancing renewable energy and promoting consumer participation in the country’s clean energy transition.
The distribution utility received a plaque of recognition during a ceremony at the ERC Main Office on June 26, 2026, as part of the commission’s 25th anniversary celebration.
ERC Chairperson Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan presented the award to Negros Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin also joined the recognition rites.
The ERC cited Negros Power for exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the implementation of the Net-Metering Program.
The commission said Negros Power successfully empowered the most qualified end-users across the Visayas since the launch of the Net-Metering Program in 2014.
Through the program, the utility has enabled thousands of consumers to generate their own electricity from renewable energy sources and take part in the country’s evolving energy landscape.
The recognition also underscored Negros Power’s role in democratizing energy access, modernizing the power sector, and accelerating the adoption of renewable energy technologies.
According to the ERC, the company’s initiatives have set a benchmark for innovation and sustainability within the Philippine electric power industry.
“We are honored to receive this recognition for our exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the clean energy transition,” the company said.
Negros Power said its implementation of the Net-Metering Program has encouraged more consumers to embrace renewable energy solutions and become active contributors to a more sustainable future.
As of June 19, 2026, Negros Power reported a total installed net-metering rated capacity of 23,797 kilowatts across 1,471 qualified end-users within its franchise area.
The figures show growing adoption of renewable energy technologies among households, businesses, and institutions served by the power utility company.
“This achievement reflects our continued commitment to innovation, sustainability, and delivering meaningful change for the communities we serve,” the statement added.
Negros Power dedicated the recognition to its consumers, partners, and stakeholders who have supported its clean energy initiatives over the years.
“We share this award with you—our valued consumers, partners, and stakeholders. Thank you for your unwavering trust and support,” the company said.
The award comes as the Philippine energy sector continues to push for greater integration of renewable energy sources, with net-metering serving as a mechanism to empower consumers and reduce dependence on conventional power generation.
For Negros Power, the recognition marks a milestone and reaffirms its commitment to building a cleaner, more resilient, and sustainable energy future for the communities it serves.
