BACOLOD CITY — Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) and AboitizPower have signed a 20-megawatt (MW) baseload power supply agreement to support the growing energy needs of Central Negros.
The deal was formalized on November 13, 2025, in a ceremonial signing at the Negros Power office at The Row on Lacson Street, Bacolod City.
AboitizPower, through its Therma Visayas unit, secured the contract after emerging as the winning bidder in a Competitive Selection Process facilitated by Negros Power’s Third-Party Bids and Awards Committee.
Negros Power President and CEO Roel Z. Castro said the agreement is timely and necessary as electricity demand surges across the region.
“We are genuinely thrilled about this agreement,” Castro said. “The terms we’ve secured are crucial as we continue to help drive economic development. Our customer base grew from around 220,000 to 245,000 in just one year. A proper supply strategy ensures we can meet the increasing demand. With this long-term agreement, we can truly welcome the future with reliable service for our communities.”
AboitizPower President and CEO Danel Aboitiz emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Razon-led Primelectric Holdings and the wider Prime Group, which owns Negros Power.
“I am very happy to be here, serving Primelectric and the rest of the Prime Group,” Aboitiz said. “We are grateful to be in business with the group—they are easy to work with, and the partnership has been very fruitful.”
Both firms underscored their shared vision of providing dependable, affordable electricity to consumers in the region.
AboitizPower Head of Revenue Operations James Yu described the deal as a reaffirmation of trust and a milestone in resilient energy partnerships.
“This signing comes at a meaningful time, especially after the recent typhoons and calamities that challenged our services,” Yu said. “It is in difficult moments that our resolve is strengthened to restore power and bring light back to communities. At the core of this partnership is trust, and we thank Negros Power for their confidence in us. We remain committed to being your reliable partner as we face opportunities and challenges ahead. I also thank all the teams who made this competitive selection process a success—their commitment reflects our core values.”
AboitizPower is one of the Philippines’ largest and most diversified power companies, engaged in generation, distribution, and retail electricity services.
Negros Power, through its mandate, continues to pursue efficient, sustainable, and community-driven energy services to fuel the growth of Central Negros.
