BACOLOD City – The head of the Negros Occidental Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has resigned.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson confirmed the resignation of Elena Serenias, but he did not cite her reasons.
The governor said Serenias’ resignation takes effect this month.
“As far as I know she has not yet reached the compulsory retirement age mandated by Republic Act 8291 or the Government Service Insurance System Act of 1997,” Lacson said.
He added that he considered the resignation of Serenias as “optional retirement.”
Serenias was appointed by former governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. as PSWDO head in 2016.
She previously headed the City Social Welfare and Development Office of Cadiz City.
Earlier, Atty. Wilfred Ramon Peñalosa resigned as head of the Provincial Environment and Management Office (PEMO) when the Lacson administration took over the reins of the Capitol.
