Negros Occidental Honors Top Taxpayers on Cinco de Noviembre

BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental provincial government marks the 126th Al Cinco de Noviembre today, Nov. 5, 2024, by honoring the province’s top 10 taxpayers.

Al Cinco de Noviembre, also known as Negros Day, is celebrated annually on Nov. 5 to commemorate the Negrenses’ 1898 revolt against Spanish colonizers.

The day was declared a non-working holiday in the province under Republic Act 6709.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who will lead the celebration, said the annual event celebrates the triumph of heroes from 126 years ago by “recognizing the richness of our history that boldly speaks of our forefathers’ crafty intelligence.”

He added, “It is during this momentous event that the province honors outstanding Negrenses for their exceptional achievements and meritorious impact on the province.”

Lacson said the provincial government will recognize the Top Ten Outstanding Corporate and Individual Taxpayers.

The top 10 individual taxpayers are Herminio Maravilla, Patrick Miguel Montilla, Vicky Lim, Francisco Manalo, Elena Corral, Gerald Baldevia, Atty. Gary Acuña, and Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo.

The top 10 corporate taxpayers are BISCOM (Binalbagan Sugar Company), Victorias Milling Company, Tanduay Distillers Inc., Manapla Sun Power Development, Asian Alcohol, New Foundland Agri Co. Inc., Philippine Spring Water Resources, NONECO (Northern Negros Electric Cooperative), Philippine National Bank, and Hesperus Agri and Development Co. Et Al.
