BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has turned over a P7.5-million road concreting project to the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) during an inauguration rite held inside the military camp in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town last Thursday.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander led the ceremony at Camp Major Nelson Gerona.
Pasaporte said the whole project was funded by the provincial government through the Provincial Engineering Office and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
He noted that such initiated development projects is geared to attain lasting peace and socio-economic development in the province.
He thanked the local government for being one of the active partners for peace and development.
The ceremonial groundbreaking of the 725-lineal meter project was held in December 2019.
Meanwhile, Lacson said he was honored to commemorate the province’s celebration of 122nd Cinco de Noviembre with the Philippine Army.
Lacson noted that the Army’s job today has gone tougher as they are in the thick of the health pandemic.
“We acknowledge your sacrifices, your invaluable contribution and your sincere efforts in preserving law and order and in ensuring public safety,” Lacson said.
May this development improve the conditions of our soldiers within the headquarters and grant ease of movement, he added.
The governor assured that the provincial government will do its best to support the programs of the Philippine Army.
Also present in the ceremony were Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano, Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas, Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, Mr. Jean Paul Ortega, contractor, and Rev. Fr. Ruben Fernandez of St John Bosco Parish in the said town.
