Negros Occ. police ready to receive COVID vaccines

BACOLOD City – 2,204 of the 2,237 personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here are willing to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This was revealed by Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s information officer, during the regular virtual press briefing yesterday.

Donasco said that the 33 remaining personnel refused to receive the vaccines due to some co-morbidities.

“Meron kasing lactating mothers, iyong iba pregnant, then may high blood, and others believed na it can cause daw infertility,” she added.

Donasco said the first batch who will be receiving the vaccines will be composed of 118 personnel from the provincial police headquarters here and 928 others from various police stations in 31 cities and municipalities in the province.

The second batch will be composed of another 118 personnel from Nocppo headquarters and 923 others from different police stations, she added.

Donasco said they will probably be receiving AstraZeneca vaccines, but she noted that they are willing to receive any available COVID vaccines for them.

She added that they are ready to get inoculated any time when the vaccines intended for policemen will arrive in the province.

She, however, cannot yet tell when they will receive the vaccines, as they are listed as third or fourth priority of the vaccination program of the government.
