BACOLOD City – All the local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental are now preparing for this year’s Panaad sa Negros festival.
Dubbed as the mother of all festivals in the province, Panaad sa Negros festival is set on April 15- 21, 2024 at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that spearheading this year’s celebration is provincial tourism officer Cheryl Decena as chairperson of the executive committee.
The governor further said that all the LGUs will be getting a subsidy of P300,000 to spruce up their respective pavilions at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
The subsidy is the same as last year’s, he added.
He enjoined all the local chief executives to support and cooperate to ensure the success of this year’s festivities.
The yearly Panaad sa Negros features the products of each locality displayed in their respective pavilions.
All the LGUs are also encouraged to participate in the festival dance competition.
The festival is also highlighted by the Lin-ay sang Negros beauty pageant and this year a trade fair dubbed ” Best of Negros products” will serve as another come-on for festival-goers.
All the province’s 32 towns and cities including Bacolod City will be sprucing up their pavilions as replicas of their government center, other trademarks, or products of their locality.
Meanwhile, La Castellana Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan said that this year the Bailes de Luces festival did not join the Sinulog festival in Cebu in preparation for the Panaad sa Negros festival.
Bailes de luces has won the festival dance competition in recent years and Mangilimutan said they hope to bag the championship again.
The festival dance competition champion last year was Victorias City.
