BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office – Negros Island Region (RSSO–NIR) has officially completed the turnover of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data to all Local Government Units (LGUs) across the Negros Island Region on October 20, 2025.
Held in celebration of World Statistics Day, the final turnover ceremony for Negros Occidental took place at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City, marking the completion of data distribution to LGUs across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
The event brought together local chief executives and planning and development coordinators, where each LGU signed the Data Turnover Agreement and received plaques of recognition.
National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Dr. Claire Dennis S. Mapa and OIC–Regional Director John F. Campomanes emphasized the CBMS’s critical role in evidence-based local governance during their messages.
“The Saving Power of CBMS in Times of Disasters and Calamities,” the keynote address delivered by Ms. Doris Y. Flores, City Planning and Development Coordinator of Canlaon City, highlighted the importance of CBMS data in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and targeted relief.
An acceptance message was given by Hon. Salvador Escalante Jr., Mayor of Cadiz City and President of the Negros Association of Chief Executives, who affirmed the LGUs’ full commitment to utilizing the data.
“The ceremony ensures our LGUs are equipped with the statistics needed to develop responsive, data-driven programs that address constituents’ needs,” said Campomanes.
The event also featured a special performance by Mr. Ralph Dajao, a teacher from Progreso Village National High School.
CBMS is a nationwide program led by the PSA under Republic Act No. 11315, designed to collect localized data on poverty, demographics, and access to services to help LGUs in planning and delivering public programs.
The PSA said the successful turnover supports the CBMS goal of promoting inclusive development and more informed governance across the Negros Island Region.
