ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A police officer from Negros Occidental is wanted for allegedly shooting to death a resident of Barangay Sagrada Familia in Dumarao, Capiz on Saturday.
Police identified the victim as Renato Pampag, 43, of said place who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigation by the Dumarao Municipal Police Station indicated that suspect Patrolman Mamerto Arellano, 34, and temporally residing in said place, was walking on the road with his nephew when Pampag suddenly blocked their path.
A heated conversation erupted between Pampag and Arellano which led to the victim attempting to hack the cop with a bolo.

Pampag again tried to hack Arellano but the latter shot the victim.
Arellano fled while the victim was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Police recovered from the crime scene a .9mm caliber pistol and a deformed slug.
