BACOLOD City – The Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), including the 62nd and 79th Infantry Battalion (IB), reached 98 percent vaccination rate in Negros island so far this year.
As of September 18, 99% of the military personnel from the 303rd IBde, and the 79th IB were fully vaccinated, while 95% from the 62nd IB were also fully vaccinated, an overall inoculation rate of 98%, based on the Army’s records.
They received Sinovac, Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The 303rd IBde and its line battalions are conducting troop’s information and education (TI & E) program to address issues, concerns, and apprehension of soldiers about being vaccinated.
Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander, in a statement, said the Army in Negros remains ready to serve the people in these challenging times.
“The availability of the vaccines is a welcome development and being vaccinated is an opportunity that allows us to carry out our duties of serving the people and securing the land especially the Negrenses,” Pasaporte noted.
Pasaporte also expressed his gratitude to the efforts of the local government units especially the provincial government for including the soldiers in the priority of the vaccination rollout.
The military troopers will make good use of this opportunity to confidently and carefully bestow our duties as we jointly seek an end to this pandemic, Pasaporte said.
