Negrense farmers, fisherfolk receive inputs worth P11M

BACOLOD City – A total of P11-million worth of Agri-Abanse agricultural and fishery inputs were given to Negrense farmers and fisher folk during a turn-over ceremony held at the Negros First Organic Technology Center (NFOTeC) in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist OIC Dr. Dina Genzola, led the turn-over of inputs seen to help farmers and fisher folk enhance agricultural and fishery productivity, ensure food security and provide them livelihood opportunities.

Lacson said aiding the farmers and fisherfolks with the opportunity and technology is a step towards the realization of the collective goal to empower and enhance one of the most important sectors of the province – our farmers and fisher folks.

“Kun mag-uswag ang tecknolohiya para sa lokal nga produkto, maga-uswag man ang kabuhi sang mga mangunguma upod sa tagsa nila ka pamilya (If there is advancement in the use of technology for local productivity, this translates to the improvement on the lives of our farmers along with their families),” Lacson added.

Farmers and fisher folk from the different cities and municipalities received inputs like Sugar-Rice Intercropping Project composed of rice seeds, fertilizer, ameliorants and inoculants; power sprayer; pump and engine; and multi-cultivator for high value commercial crops; rescue equipment for fisheries use; Organic Production Support Program that include vegetable seeds, farms tools, organic fertilizer, and planting materials; and Farm Tourism Program.

The provincial officials also checked the ongoing NFOTec projects, bamboo nursery, tissue culture laboratory, vermi composting facility, and rice processing complex at the site.

Lacson also assured the farmers of the provincial government’s support, for them to reach their utmost potential and improve their livelihood. (PIA)
