BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will most likely approve the proposed P4-billion budget of the provincial government for 2020 in the last two weeks of November 2019.
Ferrer told reporters here that he sees a smooth sailing discussion of the 2020 budget once it is submitted by the committee on finance and appropriations to the plenary for deliberation.
For now, Ferrer said that the committee chaired by Board Member Rommel Debulgado is conducting budget hearings.
The proposed 2020 budget at P4.4 billion is 10 percent higher compared to the 2019 budget at P4.002 billion.
Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado submitted the 2020 proposed budget to the SP after it was signed by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Some P3.7 billion of the budget will be sourced from the province’s Internal Revenue Allotment share from the national government, P192 million from the income of local economic enterprises, and the rest from local taxes collected by the provincial government.
