BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has pledged P1 million in financial assistance for victims of the recent Taal volcano eruption in Batangas.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, said the funds will be taken from the budget they set aside for provinces affected by calamities, particularly those that declared a state of calamity.
Lacson said the P1-million aid was agreed upon during a meeting with provincial officials and will be tackled during the provincial board’s next regular session.
Aside from the provincial government, the city government of Bacolod earlier announced it will also aid the victims of Taal eruption.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office also pledged to help by donating a portion of their rice allowance.
