‘NegOcc delivered the votes to BBM’

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, chief campaigner of presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., on Wednesday said they delivered the votes for the latter.

In a press conference here, Ferrer cited the 2016 vice presidential election result in Negros Occidental where Vice President Leni Robredo got 733,370 votes over Marcos who then garnered 162,370 votes.

In the 2022 presidential election, Robredo got 638,932 votes in Negros Occidental while Marcos got 601,049 votes.

In Bacolod City, Ferrer said Marcos won by 8,000 votes, adding that overall, Marcos only lost by 30,000 votes in the province and the city combined.

He cited the difference of about more or less 500,000 votes that Marcos gained in this year’s election compared to his 2016 loss.

“It is a victory for us,” Ferrer said.

The vice governor thanked the mayors for their efforts but lamented that from the start of the campaign, they have been “badmouthed by critics.”

But we kept our peace, he added.

“The people of Negros Occidental has spoken and if you equate that, Negros Occidental has 1.9 million voters, the difference of 30,000 is just a very small percent, so it is almost a tie. For us we are victorious because wala nag daku ang abanse ni VP Leni kay BBM.”

Ferrer also said that Marcos has full support for the restoration of the Negros Island Region through legislation.

Marcos, the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Sr., is leading the presidential race with more than 31 million votes against Robredo’s over 14 million ballots.
