BACOLOD City – Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang said Wednesday that the second coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient in Negros Occidental was negative in the rapid test conducted Tuesday.
But Tumimbang said the COVID-19 patient, a 42-year-old driver, was also subjected to another swab test which will be sent to Western Visayas Medical Center.
The patient’ s wife and child, who tested negative in previous swab tests, also underwent retesting.
Tumimbang said the patient is stable and asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, Tumimbang reported there are 19 suspected cases in the province as of Wednesday.
Of the 229 specimens submitted for testing, two yielded positive results,159 were negative and 68 are pending.
Provincial consultant for economic affairs Alfredo Benitez said he was assured by the Department of Health regional office they will expedite the releasing of the test results.
