By Jennifer P. Rendon
One of the National Capital Region’s (NCR) most wanted persons was arrested late afternoon on Oct. 12 in Calinog, Iloilo.
The suspect, identified as alias Eric, 30, was arrested at his residence in Barangay Garangan, Calinog.
Operatives of the Calinog Municipal Police Station (MPS) tracker team and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 6 (RHPU-6) arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Regional Trial Court’s Branch 285 in Valenzuela City, National Capital Judicial Region, issued the warrant for the service of sentence on March 11, 2026.
The suspect ranked fourth on the National Capital Region Police Office’s (NCRPO) most wanted list.
Lt. Gabriel Gilmer Manguera, Calinog police chief, said authorities learned of the suspect’s presence in Calinog through information relayed by the NCRPO to RHPU-6.
Eric told police that he had long planned to surrender but had been unable to do so because of personal issues.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Calinog MPS and will be transported to Metro Manila to serve his sentence.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, Western Visayas police chief, said Eric’s arrest highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven operations and effective coordination among police units.
“Ang pagkakaaresto sa Top 4 Most Wanted Person ng NCRPO dito sa Iloilo ay nagpapakita ng ating patuloy na pagsisikap na matunton at maaresto ang mga indibidwal na pinaghahanap ng batas, kabilang ang mga may warrant of arrest na inilabas ng mga hukuman sa ibang rehiyon,” he said.
Tuaño also urged other fugitives to surrender and vowed to sustain relentless operations against wanted persons.
