NBA: Philadelphia embarrasses Lakers with a 44-point beatdown

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers handed the Los Angeles Lakers its worst beating of the NBA season so far by 44 points, 138-94, last November 28, 2023.

Embiid led the way for the 76ers and was laser-focused during their inter-conference showdown after recording an impressive triple-double stat line of 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, in just three quarters of action.

The Lakers held to a slim advantage in the first minutes of the opening frame but after Embiid got hot and started to impose his will in the shaded lane, the 76ers took control of the game and never gave up their lead until the final buzzer sounded.

Tyrese Maxey top-scored for Philadelphia with 31 big markers alongside eight assists, three rebounds, and a steal.

The Lakers went toe-to-toe against the 76ers in the second and third quarters but their worst nightmare came in the final 12 minutes of the game.

Los Angeles only recorded 14 total points in the final canto, one of their worst scoring quarters in their first 18 games of the season.

The 76ers shot the ball well from the three-point range, draining 22 out of their 46 total attempts while the Lakers only made seven treys.

In the rebounding battle, Philadelphia dominated as well after they pulled down a total of 48 boards including 15 offensive rebounds.

Marcus Morris played his best game as a member of the 76ers so far after chipping in 16 points built from an efficient 6/8 shooting from the field.

Philadelphia will look to clinch its third straight win on November 30, 2023, against the New Orleans Pelicans while the Lakers seek to bounce back on the same date against the Detroit Pistons.
