The Golden State Warriors protected their home court and crushed the Dallas Mavericks, 126-102, during their Western Conference showdown in the ongoing NBA regular season on February 24, 2025.
With the win, Golden State just picked up where they left off after huge wins over the Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings to extend their NBA winning streak to three straight games.
Stephen Curry ignited the Warriors’ offense after erupting for 30 points in just 28 minutes, derived from an efficient 12/20 shooting from the field.
Curry knocked down three treys and shot a perfect 3/3 from the charity stripe, but did his damage in the paint when he smoked the Dallas interior defense with his quick cuts to the basket and layups from their backdoor plays.
Aside from his usual scoring outing, Curry also stuffed the stat sheets, recording seven assists, four rebounds, and a steal.
Curry set the tone for Golden State’s fiery start as they outscored the Mavericks, 33-18, leading to a double-digit cushion heading into the second half, 61-44.
Dallas tried to adjust when the third quarter kicked off as they chose to go under the screen to chase Golden State’s trailers. However, Jimmy Butler made them pay in the perimeter and converted most of his points from wide-open jumpers.
Butler continued what Curry started and set the tempo for the Warriors in the second half, backstopped by Brandin Podziemski’s all-around game.
Podziemski was a defensive lynchpin for the Warriors in the final two quarters and out-rebounded the Dallas frontcourt with his great hustle and positioning.
Butler capped off the win with 18 points, five dimes, and three boards, while Podziemski delivered a double-double outing of 17 markers, 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.
Golden State extended their biggest lead of the ball game to 29 points at the end of the third, which made it hard for the Mavericks to chip away their deficit.
With seven minutes still remaining in the fourth canto, Dallas head coach Jason Kidd decided to pull out all of his starters to get them ready for their next scheduled game against the Los Angeles Lakers on February 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Golden gang will look to extend their winning streak to four on the same date, against the Charlotte Hornets.
