The Cleveland Cavaliers moved two wins away from advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals after stifling the Toronto Raptors, 115-105, in Game 2 of the ongoing NBA Playoffs on April 21, 2026.
With another wire-to-wire victory, the Cavaliers jumped to a 2-0 series lead, pulling off another lopsided masterclass with a second consecutive double-digit dub.
Just like in their Game 1 win, Cleveland got off to a waxing-hot start, banking on an efficient 3-point shooting display while shutting down Toronto’s half-court-oriented offense.
Cleveland held the Raptors to just 19 points after the first 12 minutes of action, limiting them to 33.3% shooting from the field.
Just when the Cavaliers thought they could replicate their first-half beatdown in Game 1, Toronto flipped the script in the second quarter of Game 2, receiving a solid offensive outburst from Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett, which helped the Raptors pull within a single-digit deficit at the half, 54-48.
Toronto found an opening to stay within striking distance after trimming Cleveland’s advantage to just three points at the start of the third frame, but Evan Mobley stepped up when the Cavaliers needed him most, spoiling the Raptors’ comeback attempt with an interior scoring clinic.
When the Raptors threatened to retake the lead, the savvy superstar power forward scored 10 straight points to restore order for Cleveland, turning a two-point game into a double-digit affair in a span of four minutes.
Unfortunately for Toronto, it was the last time that it got within two points, with the backcourt duo of Donovan Mitchell and James Harden shutting the Raptors’ window of opportunity with a surgical late-game closing performance.
In the final seven minutes of regulation, Harden stabilized the Cavaliers with back-to-back 3-pointers and a couple of dimes to Mobley, while Mitchell wisely milked the clock, frustrating the Raptors with eight points in the final four possessions of the game to protect Cleveland’s double-digit cushion.
Mitchell remained consistent for the Cavaliers, spearheading the massive Game 2 win with an all-around effort of 30 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Harden also weaved his magic, backstopping Mitchell with 28 markers, five steals and four dimes, while Mobley chipped in 25 points on an efficient 11-of-13 shooting from the field.
On the other hand, the Raptors received a 26-point outing from Barnes, but primary scorer Brandon Ingram continued to struggle against Cleveland’s perimeter defense, contributing only seven markers on a dismal 3-of-15 shooting from the field.
The Cavaliers will look to steal Game 3 and go up 3-0 when the series shifts to Toronto on April 24, 2026, at Scotiabank Arena in Ontario, Canada.
Can the Raptors secure home-court advantage and get on board? Or will Mitchell and the Cavaliers pull off another stunner?
