The Boston Celtics picked up the biggest win of the NBA regular season’s final November week schedule after edging the Detroit Pistons, 117-114, and halting their 13-game winning streak on Nov. 27, 2025.
During the grueling Eastern Conference heavyweight battle, Boston received an offensive clinic from Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, who combined for 60 total points—33 from Brown and 27 from White, respectively.
When the Pistons started off hot in the opening quarter, Brown helped Boston respond to the challenge, leading by example as he pummeled Detroit’s shaded lane with aggressive drives to the basket.
After Brown waxed hot, the rest of the Celtics picked up where he left off, especially White, who broke free from a slow shooting start.
White was huge during Boston’s second-half surge, knocking down demoralizing three-pointers as the Pistons attempted to build unanswered offensive runs in the fourth quarter.
The game went down to the wire, with Detroit holding a one-point lead, 101-100, that was quickly erased by Brown, who attacked the lane for a go-ahead layup, 102-101.
Following a successful defensive stop by the Celtics, White stretched Boston’s cushion to four points with a clutch three-pointer for a 105-101 advantage.
With Detroit’s offensive rhythm stalling, superstar Cade Cunningham took charge, converting back-to-back isolation plays to tie the game at 105-all in the final 1:45.
Brown and White delivered again for Boston, creating a quick 5-0 run for a 111-107 lead, but Tobias Harris answered with a timely three-pointer that cut the deficit to one, 111-110.
Detroit had a chance to retake the lead in the final 15 seconds, but Boston forced a turnover when White flicked the ball out of Cunningham’s hands, leading to a series of clutch free throws for the Celtics.
A bit of late-game drama unfolded with Detroit trailing by three, 115-112, and only 6.3 seconds left. After receiving the inbound, Cunningham rushed up the court to attempt a three-pointer, but Boston committed an intentional foul that was ruled during the shooting motion.
As a result, Cunningham was awarded three free throws—but he missed the third and final attempt, sealing a thrilling win for Boston in front of a packed TD Garden.
Aside from Brown and White, Payton Pritchard also stepped up for the Celtics. The reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year tallied 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
On the other hand, Cunningham’s 42-point explosion wasn’t enough to keep Detroit’s streak alive, with the Pistons suffering their first loss since Oct. 28.
The Celtics will aim for their third straight win on Nov. 30 when they face Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves, while Cunningham and the Pistons will look to bounce back on Nov. 29 against the Orlando Magic.
