BACOLOD City – Three persons were gunned down in separate shooting incidents in Negros Oriental in the past two days.
In Siaton town, Roger Alibiado, 40, of Barangay Casala-an, a member of the Philippine Navy Reserve, was gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants at Barangay Datag last Monday.
Based on a report from Chief Master Sgt. Edelberto Euroba III, Negros Oriental police public information officer, the assailants tailed the victim and his partner who were also riding a motorcycle.
One of the perpetrators shot Alibiado, causing him to fall from his motorcycle and fell into a canal.
He suffered gunshot wounds in the head and body and was declared dead at a hospital. His partner was unharmed.
Police recovered from the scene an empty shell of .45 caliber ammunition, the victim’s belt bag with a .45 caliber pistol, two magazines and 17 live ammunition.
Also slain in the town last Sunday was Samson Doong, 61, of Barangay Datag, a motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver.
Investigation showed that Doong ferried a passenger early that day to Sitio Pitogo in the said village.
The passenger gave Doong P500 and told the victim to fetch him again in the afternoon, based on the statement of Doong’s son.
The victim’s body was found later that day with a gunshot wound in the head. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In Guihulngan City, Reymond Albarasin Fat of Barangay Imelda, a member of the Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) was killed by four suspected members of the Special Partisan Unit (Sparu) of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Lomorang, Barangay Hinakpan last Sunday.
Police records showed that the victim was on his way home from the CAA patrol base where he was assigned when he was allegedly waylaid and shot by the armed men who then fled.
Recovered by authorities from the scene were 14 fired empty shells and a live ammunition of .45 caliber.
