A woman who used to work as a nanny was arrested evening of June 29, 2021 at Alimodian, Iloilo for child abuse charges.
Leonor Almarel, 35, was nabbed at her place in Anino St. Barangay Poblacion, Alimodian, Iloilo around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Members of Alimodian Police Station and the 601st Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6) served arrest warrants against Almarel for two counts of violation of Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) in Criminal Case Nos. 21-86534 and 21-86535.
Judge Elijo Sharon Ronzales Herrera-Bellones of the Regional Trial Court 6 Branch 27 in Iloilo City issued the warrants on June 28, 2021.
The court set a P200,000 for her temporary liberty.
Major Sullen Domingo, Alimodian police chief, said the case originated from Jaro, Iloilo City where the suspect used to work as a nanny.
Domingo said the suspect claimed that the case was filed by her former employer but she did not elaborate.
