BACOLOD City – A criminal complaint for murder was filed on Tuesday, against a man who confessed to killing a Grade 11 student in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, Cadiz City police chief, said that charges were filed against a 48-year-old man, also a resident of the said village.
The suspect was invited to the police station last Monday after he was identified by a witness. He was later arrested after confessing, making him a primary suspect in the death of a 16-year-old girl.
The victim was last seen alive on Dec. 9 and was found half-naked stuffed in a sack in a river two days later. She suffered multiple stab wounds in the body.
Despi said they are still waiting for the result of the postmortem examination to determine if the victim was sexually molested.
Despi said they will submit a supplemental affidavit for the filing of a rape case, in case the result will come out positive.
Police earlier said that the suspect has a hidden desire for the victim.
