ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police on Oct 12, 2022, filed a murder case against a 24-year-old suspect who allegedly shot dead a security guard of an elementary school in Pres. Roxas, Capiz.
Charged before the Provincial Prosecutors’ Office was Keyn Almendral of Brgy. Ibaca, Pres. Roxas town.
Almendral was accused of killing Tio Garcia, a 57-year-old security guard of lbaca East Elementary School on Oct 10 at the National Highway of Barangay Ibaca, President Roxas.
Garcia was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra town due to fatal gunshot wounds on the head and shoulder.
Pemar Garcia told the police that he saw personally how the suspect shot his father four times using an unidentified caliber of firearm.
Pemar said the suspect hurriedly fled on board his motorcycle towards Pilar, Capiz.
The suspect, however, was arrested around 9 p.m. in a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Pres. Roxas police at Brgy. Cayus, Pilar.
The suspect is presently detained at Pres. Roxas police station.
PCpt. Alfred de Leon, President Roxas police chief, said old grudges might be the motive for the incident.
Garcia allegedly stabbed dead Almendral’s uncle in 2012. The case was amicably settled.
Aside from this, police also looking into a land dispute between the two parties.
