BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Gerry Rojas has offered a PHP10,000 cash reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible for abusing a dog in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The incident, posted on social media by Bach Project PH, a nonprofit animal welfare organization, involved a dog named Tiktok, who was reportedly shot five times with an Indian target.
“It was left helpless, struggling, and in desperate need of care,” the group said, stressing that no animal should endure such cruelty.
Bach Project PH rescued the dog in Hacienda Puyas, Barangay Blumentritt, and brought it to a veterinary clinic in Bacolod City for urgent treatment.
In a statement, Rojas strongly condemned the act, calling it “barbaric” and saying it does not reflect the true values of Murciahanons.
Along with the reward, Rojas also offered legal assistance to ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted.
He thanked Bach Project PH for rescuing the dog, who is now recovering.
The group reported that the reward has increased to PHP65,000 after anonymous donors pledged additional support.
“If you have any information, please come forward. Justice must be served for this innocent dog,” Bach Project PH said.
The organization also warned the public about individuals falsely claiming to be affiliated with Bach Project PH to solicit donations for personal gain.
“While these reports are unverified, we want to ensure your generosity directly supports our mission,” the group said.
They urged the public to verify donations through official channels and report any suspicious activity.
“Your vigilance helps protect our community and ensures support reaches those in need,” the group stated.
