Five new multi-purpose buildings (MPBs) were built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Aklan District Engineering Office to various barangays of Banga in Aklan.
These buildings (covered courts) will serve as venues for barangay-related events for the residents of Banga, Aklan.
Citing a report from OIC-District Engineer Gener J. Abergas, DPWH-6 Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said the completed buildings are located at Barangays Muguing, Cupang, Mangan, Jumarap and Daja Norte.
“These structures will provide a more ideal venue for any community-related activities among localities. Residents in this area can now engage in a variety of activities to protect themselves from the heat of the sun and heavy rains,” Engr. Bueno said.
The ₱2.9-million project in Muguing involves the expansion of a 434-square-meter covered court
The ₱1.9-million MPB in Cupang comprises the installation of a column, corbel beam, roof beam, and concrete gutter on a 470 square meter area.
The completion of the 357-square-meter building in Mangan includes the construction of one-tier concrete bleachers with a combination of aluminum awning windows for walling, with total funding of ₱2.9-million.
The ₱2.4-million structure in Jumarap, with a total area of 420 square meters, entails the construction of columns with footings and roof beam sections.
Likewise, the 128-square-meter covered court in Daja Norte, costing ₱2.8 million, includes masonry works on the second floor exclusively, with glazed tiles installed in the comfort rooms of the ground floor.
Bueno said that all buildings may also be utilized as temporary shelters in the event of an emergency. (DPWH-6)
