MSMEs craft framework for disaster resilient business plan

SAN JOSE, Antique – Micro, small and medium  enterprises (MSMEs) in Antique recently crafted the framework for a disaster resilient business plan as an offshoot of the three-day Business Continuity Planning Seminar Workshop in Iloilo City.

Information Officer Lynna Joy B. Cardinal, Information Officer of Department of Trade and Industry-Antique, said that MSMEs must be prepared since natural and man-made hazards can possibly happen at any point of the business operation.

“A documented plan must be in place and preventive measures must be implemented,” she said.

Ernesto G. Espanola,Jr., Manager of Laua-an Multi-purpose Cooperative presented the Business Continuity Plan Framework of the muscovado processing and trading business of their cooperative during the workshop.

Other participants from Antique were Ann Q. Lotilla of SML groceries trading and Johnjohn Z. Protacio of Belison Multi-Purpose Cooperative, also a recipient of Shared Service Facility for Dairy Products Processing of DTI.

Earlier, Antique Provincial MSMEs Resilience Core Group was created to formulate plans for continuous advocacy of Business Continuity Plan.

DTI is encouraging MSMEs to craft their own framework of disaster resilient business plan, so they could be better prepared and resilient in times of emergencies.

The activity was conducted by DTI6 in coordination with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation. (PIA-Antique)
